The European Council

-Reforming and strengthening the health systems after the Covid pandemic.

The European Council is the highest political body of the European Union (EU), composed of the heads of state or government of the EU member states, along with the President of the European Council and the President of the European Commission. Its main function is to define the overall political direction and priorities of the EU. While it does not legislate, the European Council plays a crucial role in shaping EU policy by setting the strategic agenda, resolving complex issues that require consensus among member states, and providing leadership on major challenges facing the Union. The Council meets at least four times a year, and its decisions influence key areas such as foreign policy, economic governance, security, and the EU’s long-term goals. The European Council works in close collaboration with other EU institutions, including the European Parliament and the European Commission, to ensure that the Union’s policies align with the shared interests of its member states.
